Biratnagar
Biratnagar is a sub metropolitan and Nepal's second largest city is located in Morang District. The city is located in Morang district in the Koshi zone of eastern Terai region of Nepal. Biratnagar is located on the southern belt of Nepal, near the south eastern border of Nepal. Biratnagar is also called as " The Industrial Capital Of Nepal". The distance from Nepal capital city "Kathmandu" to Biratnagar is 399km. Biratnagar lies 399 km east of Nepal capital city and 6 km north of the border of the Indian state of Bihar.
Biratnagar ranks second in population density after Kathmandu. It has total area of 40.108 miles. Biratnagar is the economic center of Nepal. Besides this there are 6000 industries which really helps local people because most of the local peoples employ in these industries. Biratnagar is also called as "Trade Center Of Nepal". Biratnagar is a hub for explorers of places in eastern Nepal like Ilam, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha and Panchthar. Most of the tourist also visit Biratnagar to buy some items to the Nepal-India border named as "Jogbani". There are several gardens, temples and places of religious importance in Biratnagar. Temples have been jewel of Biratnagar. The Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve (90-minute drive) is a bird-watching spot. The Koshi Barrage on the Koshi River (two-hour drive) is an impressive sight. Biratnagar is the hub of air routes in eastern Nepal. The largest rhododendron forests of Tinjure, Milke and Jaljale can be reached in about 3–4 hours. Scenic treks with views of Mt. Makalu and Kanchenjunga can be started from the small towns of Basantapur or Tumlingtar.
Dharan is (40 km to the north of Biratnagar); Itahari is 20 km north of Biratnagar . These places are famous for Taltalaiya, Ocean Park, Gokulam Resort, Dantakali Temple, Pindeshwor Temple, Budha Subba Temple and Panch Kanya, and are surrounded by hills; Bhedetar is a famous viewpoint.
Biratnagar Airport is the regional hub for vital air services serving the remote Eastern Hills, and there are regular flights to Kathmandu. Biratnagar is roughly 500 kilometres (310 mi) by road from Kathmandu. It is also well connected to all the parts of the Eastern Development Region including Dharan, Itahari and Dhankuta as well as to most other parts of the country by bus service. Biratnagar is 7 kilometres (4 mi) north of Nepal's southern border with Bihar state, India. The crossing has a customs checkpoint for goods. Indian and Nepalese nationals cross freely. Jogbani town in Araria District is on the Indian side, where a rail line ends. There are direct trains from there to Katihar, Kolkata and New Delhi. A rail extension to Biratnagar has been proposed and surveyed.
