Ilam is a municipality of Ilam District, which is in the hilly region of Mechi zone, in the Eastern Development Region of Nepal. Ilam, the Queen of Hills, is a beautiful hilly district in eastern part of Nepal. Geographically it lies in the hilly region is most known as Mahabharat Range. It is one of the major place in Nepal for tea production.  It is famous for natural scenery and landscapes, tea production, and diverse agricultural economy.

 It also produces great views of Mt. Kanchenjunga. It is close to the famous Indian hill station "Darjeeling". The two main tea gardens in the area are the Ilam Tea Garden located near the Ilam Bazaar and the Kanyam Tea Garden which is located halfway between Ilam Bazaar and the plains of the Terai.

Ilam has many other teasures such as :- Antu Danda, Mai Pokhari. Antu Danda has a height of 1677 meters, from there you can find breathtaking views of  sunrise and sunset of Mt. Kanchenjunga and other mountains ranges. Antu Danda also known as Shree Antu
 It offers unique views of Everest and Kanchenjunga as well. Situated at a distance of 3 hrs drive from Ilam Bazaar, this spectacular spot offers sloped tea gardens, mountain streams, dense forests and unique ethnic culture.  Another famous tourist attraction of Ilam is Mai Pohkari Lake which is believed of the place of the goddess. Different types medicinal herbs, flora and orchids are found near the Mai Pohkari Lake. Rare animals like Leopard, Musk deer, Porcupine and other Migration birds will be seen near the Mai Pokhari Lake. It will amaze every person with it is beauty and surroundings. It is mostly visited place at Ilam and Mai Pohkari is between the forest. It vegetation will amaze you.
   
Another famous tourist attraction of Ilam is  Kanyam which is hill station which provides breathtaking views of tea garden around different hill. Kanyam has large tea estates that have made Ilam famous for more than a hundred years. Fikkal is the bussiness center of  Eastern Ilam. Kanyam is highway from which we can reach Ilam Bazaar. Gorkha Tea Estate has encouraged the local farmer of Kanyam. Many Farmers of Kanyam, are associated to  Gorkha Tea Estate are already enjoying the benefits and many more to preparing to join.

Ilam district is also famous Churrpi. It is also leading churrpi production in Nepal. New Hotels are being opened in Ilam for tourism. Other famous production of  Ilam such as :- Alu(Potato),  Alan (Milk), Alainchi (Cardamom), Aduwa (Ginger), Amriso (Broom Grass), and Akabare khursani (Round Chillies),etc. although tea, bamboo, flowers and silk are also produced in Ilam. Ilam is improving tourism by opening new hotels and lodges. Every Local is participating for growth of tourism in Ilam. Every Local is providing great effort form their sector. So, Ilam is really a amazing place to visit once in lifetime.
