Bhairahawa is located in western region of Nepal. It is also known as Siddharthanagar.  It is also the "Gateway of Lumbini." Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha is 25 km to the west. It has the second largest rate of border trade with India after Birgunj border in the country.

1. Lumbini

Lumbini is one of the scared place in Nepal. It is the place where the Lord Gautam Buddha was born.
It is located in Lumbini zone of Nepal. It is the place where, according to Buddhist tradition, Queen Mayadevi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama in 563 BCE. Lumbini has different temples and monasteries. including " Maya Devi Temple". Also there is the Puskarini, or Holy Pond, where the Buddha's mother took the ritual dip prior to his birth and where he had his first bath. We can reach Lumbini from Bhairahawa and it has distance of 25km. Many Buddhist tourist and other tourist visit Lumbini. It is Holy place in Nepal. Many countries like Japan, China, Thailand are helping to develop Lumbini. Lumbini was made a World Heritage Site status by UNESCO in 1997.

2. Sunauli

Sunauli is the border between Nepal and India. It is also the gateway of  tourist route between Nepal and India. The people comes from Varanasi or Delhi, to visit  Lumbini, Pokhara and Kathmandu. It is also the second largest border of Nepal after Birgunj. Many of people visit Sunauli because it is the gateway of Nepal and  India too. Border is absolutely busy, people comes from Butwal, Bhairahawa as well as NawalParasi to buy goods. Mostly in Saturdays, Sunauli is crowded at that day. Most people refer to both sides of the border as Sunauli, though officially the Nepali border town is called Belahiya.

3. Butwal

Butwal is one of the emerging cities in Nepal due to the vast development is taking place. Butwal is located in a Rupendehi district. Bhairahawa and Butwal is seperated by Tilotama River. his city stands beside the bank of Tilottama River Tinau River, and at the northern edge of the Terai plain below the Siwalik Hills. Its name, Butwal was derived from Batauli Bazaar, the town's oldest residential area which is located on the western bank of Tinau river. Butwal is a lively city comprising the Panoramic views of the combination of hills and plains. Butwal is at the intersection of Nepal's two different National Highways, Mahendra Highway and Siddhartha Highway.

Bhairahawa is developing city, vast development taking place due to the influence of Gautam Buddha  International Airport. Bhairahawa is 260 km from Kathmandu and about 10 planes fly form Tribhuwan International Nepal. It is place you have to visit in your lifetime and visit Lumbini where the Gautam Buddha remains.
